2019 was a big year

This year, we pushed a unified agenda, gaining historic investments for our rivers and streams, and a plan to clean up coal ash in Virginia. We kicked off the third and final phase to clean up the Chesapeake Bay by 2025, ratcheted up our effort to address climate pollution from transportation – the largest source of emissions in Virginia – stood up against rollbacks to the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, celebrated as the Supreme Court upheld the uranium mining ban in Virginia, and, while the campaign continues, the Atlantic Coast Pipeline is still not built in Virginia. Just to name a few things.

Conservation advocates from across the Commonwealth joined us for the 2019 Environmental Assembly at Virginia Union University and learned what was on deck for the Virginia legislature at the 2020 General Assembly Preview.

here’s to 2020!

We’re ready to come back in 2020 and continue fighting for our state’s natural resources. This includes taking bold climate action by moving away from fossil fuels and moving towards a clean energy future. We’re also excited to secure full funding for our natural resources in order to clean up the Chesapeake Bay, protect our parks and natural landscapes & enhance our environmental agencies. Other big goals include ensuring environmental justice for all, reducing plastic pollution, protecting wildlife, reforming transportation, promoting an inclusive and transparent government, and more!
