ELECTRIFICATION
Our Commitment
Transitioning from polluting, fossil fuels to electric-powered cars, bikes, trains, and buildings.
THE ISSUE
The transportation sector is the leading source of carbon pollution in the Commonwealth, and from particulate matter to brake dust the volume of driving that currently takes place produces a long list of pollutants that harm our health and environment. Rapidly transitioning from pollution producing fossil fuel-powered engines to electric-powered cars, trucks, trains, and buses will produce numerous public health, economic, and climate benefits while also creating a cleaner mobility future for all Virginians.
Network Partners Weigh in on Vehicle Electrification
Several VCN partners submitted comments that addressed concerns over cost of deployment and rate design, energy storage, and public charging infrastructure.
RESOURCES
Vehicle Miles Traveled Calculator
The Rocky Mountain Institute released their SHIFT calculator, a tool that enables users to estimate long-run induced vehicle miles traveled and emissions impacts.
