In preparation for Virginia’s 2020 General Assembly session, Virginia Conservation Network and its Network partners are convening for a preview of what’s in store for our natural landscapes and resources. Volunteers, board members, and staff of partner organizations — as well as those interested in getting more involved in Virginia’s conservation community — are invited to learn about priority environmental topics and discuss our collective approach to advancing policy in the upcoming legislative session.

This year’s preview will cover: taking bold climate action by moving away from fossil fuels and moving towards a clean energy future; securing full funding for our natural resources in order to clean up the Chesapeake Bay, protect our parks and natural landscapes & enhance our environmental agencies; and other exciting updates including ensuring environmental justice for all, reducing plastic pollution, protecting wildlife, reforming transportation, promoting an inclusive and transparent government, and more!

VCN is committed to making this event as accessible as possible to everyone across the Commonwealth. In order to better accommodate the vast majority of Virginians who live outside of the region, we are again hosting watch parties across the state, in addition to hosting the regular in-person event.

Coffee and breakfast will be served at all locations. All attendees will also receive a copy of the 2020 Environmental Briefing Book, which displays the breadth of conservation issues our community is prioritizing in the coming year. Attendees at all locations will have the opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of each panel and to participate in the regional breakout discussion about next steps.

Questions? Contact Lisa McLaughlin at admin@vcnva.org or (804) 644-0283.

While VCN does not profit from this event and charges a registration fee solely to cover event expenses, we understand that the cost of attendance may be a barrier. If you would like to attend this event but cost is a deciding factor, please use the code PREVIEW19 on the registration page for one free ticket to the event.
